A fuel cell is an energy conversion device.  Fuel cells can be used in cars, homes, businesses and even cell phones and laptops.  Fuel cells have many key benefits over fossil fuels.  Fuel cells do not need to be thrown away after their first use.  They only need to be filled with more hydrogen and can keep working.  Hydrogen can be extracted from the sun, waves, waste, wind, biomass and tidal power.  The most important aspect of fuel cells is that they do not pollute the environment, unlike the use of fossil fuels.  Not only does a hydrogen fuel cell not release harmful gases, it releases a renewable energy source; pure water.  Fuel cells are quiet and energy efficient.  The conversion of fuel to electricity is much more efficient than internal combustion engines and other methods of generating electricity as well.  There is only a limited amount of fossil fuels, while there is virtually unlimited fuel for fuel cells.
