Should I use a Pawn Shop for a Quick Cash Loan?
Introduction.
It’s quite a simple question and one that many of us have asked ourselves from time to time, you’re in need of some cash at short notice so, should you go to a pawn shop or look for some other way to get a quick cash loan? There has always been somewhat of a stigma attached to simply needing a quick cash loan, let alone having to go to a pawn broker to get it. Of course the idea of needing quick cash loans being a stigma doesn’t arise from the people that desperately need that loan - but from people who have a higher economic status.
Who needs quick cash loans anyway?
We all know that the economy isn’t doing too well at present - but for all the news stories you read in the press it isn’t bankers and company executives that are really feeling the pinch. Sure, one or two might have lost their jobs and, oh I do feel so bad about this, one or two of them might have to forego their $1 million dollar bonuses this year - but by and large it’s the working man and woman that really feel the ‘hard times’; the most and the worst. Apart from the hundreds of thousands of jobs being lost, we’re the ones being expected to work longer hours for the same pay, reduced hours or even worse, because the companies in a mess - take a pay cut! With all that in mind folk who have previously struggled to get by on their wages are now finding weekly and monthly short-falls in their pay-checks, especially when an unexpected bill comes along. What’s the solution - somehow to quickly get your hands on some extra cash.
Why do people need to quickly get their hands on some cash?
To answer this question we have to really consider two main aspects. There are those people who literally spend their lives short of money, always needing to borrow money from friends and relatives. Inevitably as well those very same people will turn to other means of borrowing money at short notice from loans companies. However, under the economic conditions we currently find ourselves in, outlined above, there are many other people being drawn into needing to quickly get cash loans, often on a short-term basis - to avoid longer term debt. Imagine the scenario; you’re a working guy, or woman, just managing on your wage and the freezer packs up and you’ve a family to feed, or the TV breaks and you’ve an elderly relative to look after, or the car needs a new set of tires - without which you can’t get to work …. I’m sure you get the picture. It’s only a few hundred dollars you need, but your budgets all spent or accounted for, until your next pay-check.
Ways to quickly get some extra cash.
Well, I guess you could always go on out and put whatever money you’ve got left on that 100-to-1 outsider ‘UON’, that’s running in the next race at the race-track? Mmm, perhaps that’s not the most brilliant of plans when you later learn that ‘UON’ stood for useless old nag! Perhaps you could sell something on eBay? Well that might not be too bad an idea, but you simply can’t guarantee what price you’ll get for it, even putting a reserve price on it won’t help if all the bids are low. Plus, when it’s gone its gone - some things for sale on eBay must have taken months if not years for people to work and pay for, only to see it go for a pittance on eBay. Which is where a third option comes in - why not go to a pawn broker. It’s another fact in times of a poor national or local economy that trade in pawn shops and check cashing increases. Jewelry, invariably of as much sentimental value as cash value, is by far the most common thing pawned; and yet around 20% of pawned items are never redeemed. Again, the same as eBay, you need to ask your self - is the loss of a treasured item really worth a few hundred bucks? Returning to the original question, should I use a pawn shop for a quick cash loan - it’s difficult to say no, but it really should be a last resort.
If I don’t use a pawn shop - what’s the alternative?
If you are in the situation of needing a quick cash loan, over a short period of time, then as an alternative to using a pawn shop you should consider a payday loan. Now I know some of you will think - ah ha, payday loan equals another stigma in some people’s eyes. Well that might well be the case - but are they the one’s in desperate need of some cash? Also, it has to be said, that payday loans are invariably associated with the idea of loan sharks. We’ve all seen them portrayed on TV and in the movies; incredibly shady characters, whose line is invariably “sure you can have the loan we’ll work out the repayments later”. Should anyone offer you a payday loan on those sort of terms - run! Instead look for one of the established and reputable payday loans specialist companies on the internet, who are very clear and straight talking with you about the quick cash loan repayments. Quite simply, to get a payday loan you need an established work history; but always remember that a payday loan should ideally be repaid in full, plus the interest, out of your very next paycheck.
